RECAP OF LABYRINTH ON 4/27 IN TEMPE, PLUS SHAUN OF THE DEAD AND ZOMBIE MAYHEM IN MAY!

Dance Magic Dance! It’s the 10th month of Cult Classics and we’re celebrating with a masquerade with the Goblin King, David Bowie. Cult Classics presented a rare screening of LABYRINTH to a sold-out house of 158 at 9pm and a near-sellout at 11pm.

We had a pretty massive line-up in the lobby, reaching throughout the lobby, wrapping all the way down the stairs, with people in costumes to match the masquerade dance in the film:

One of the fun elements of all of our shows is people reliving their youth with a fun sense of nostalgia by dressing up for our events, so it was awesome to see so many people in costumes. Also a great site to see so many patrons bringing their kids to inspire a second generation of fans of Jim Henson’s creations. We also gave away several gift packages and gift cards, courtesy of our amazing sponsor Zia Records. We also gave away several copies of LABYRINTH on Blu-Ray to encourage pre-sales. All of our events have sold-out of late, but this was our first screening to completely pre-sellout on our website. Here’s a shot of one of our lucky winners:

We then announced that next month, due to the Phoenix Comicon, Cult Classics would be a week early, with a 2-night series of zombie films. Our first, on May 17th, will be the brand new Cuban zombie film and 2011 Fantastic Fest cult hit JUAN OF THE DEAD. The second night on May 18th features the 2004 romzomcom and cult hit SHAUN OF THE DEAD playing on a night we’re calling “Zombie MAYhem” complete with vendors with a pre-comic con marketplace, zombie art and vendors. Here’s our pre-show for the night:
