Hey guys, your pals at Cult Classics relaunched our movie nights for a new summer residency with our friends at Public Record Online and Hello Merch at Hello Lincoln. We’re looking to create a thirdspace for fans of movies and create a film community with our events. What better film to kick that idea off with than with a SOLD OUT packed house for the 40th anniversary screening of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA!
Director John Carpenter has made some of the greatest films of all-time: Horror classics like Halloween and The Thing, sci-fi action epics like Escape from New York and Starman, and satirical gems like They Live. But 1986’s Big Trouble in Little China is perhaps Carpenter’s most fun film, a hilarious, action-packed martial arts fantasy.
Founded in 2011, Cult Classics is dedicated to delivering cinematic favorites on the big screen to Phoenician film fans. And now, Cult Classics is bringing their roadshow to Hello Lincoln, presenting the adventures of Kurt Russell’s truck-driving Jack Burton and his crew as he squares off against an ancient sorcerer Lo Pan in his quest to live forever from beyond the grave. As with every Cult Classics screening, it was more than just a movie, including photo ops, DJ sets, hot dogs, cosplay, and exclusive merch by Cult Classics programmer Victor Moreno, including an event exclusive print and shirt!
We also teamed up with Return of the Giving Dead to raise moiney for the New Life Center to aid survivors of domestic violence and trafficking by raffling off amazing John Carpenter themed items and raised $385 for the cause! We also had an amazing photo op from Max Must Make featuring the neon skull in Lopan’s palace, check those out below! Thanks again to Facio’s Dogs for being our food vendor for the evening and DJ 700 Tapes for DJing the evening!
Join us next month on 7/25 for MIDSOMMAR: THE DIRECTOR’S CUT – tickets on sale soon!
